This is a setting of James Montgomery’s (1771-1854) music and text that is unlike anything you have heard before. Sopranos and altos establish an ostinato in seconds and in triple time, while the men sing the verses in their traditional duple time. While it sounds very complicated, it is surprisingly easy to put together, and is absolutely haunting. Easy-medium difficulty.
