Matthew Herman
Dr. Matthew Herman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Music. He earned his D.M.A. in Music Composition from Temple University (2003) and he previously taught at Temple University (1999-2006), West Chester University (2000-2006), Montgomery County Community College (2003-2010), and Shenandoah University (2010-2017). He also served as an Adjunct Professor of Music at WKU from 2011-2016, and a Visiting Assistant Professor from 2016-2017. During his career, Dr. Herman has received 6 teaching awards, including the 2013 Potter College Part-Time Teaching Award. Dr. Herman is an active clinician in music theory and composition pedagogy. His compositions have been performed across the US and Europe, and have been featured on several recent CDs. In 2009, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the New Elson's Pocket Music Dictionary, published by Theodore Presser Company.
