This piece, with its lush and sensual text by the 14th-century poet
Hafiz (1325-1389), was inspired by Martin Bresnick’s Ishi’s Song. The voice part features long, leisurely lines, enhanced by the pentatonic ostinatos in the piano part, which is somewhat challenging.
